Last week, third-grade students at Quang Trung Primary School had a special lesson with VietHarvest. Not only did they learn about food waste through vivid and engaging visuals, but they also discovered simple ways to maximize the use of available ingredients at home, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet). The students were surprised to learn that each year the world wastes about 1/3 of all food produced, and that making bun thang (a Vietnamese noodle soup) from leftover ingredients after Tet could be a fun way to reduce waste during the holiday.
In addition, through this activity, the students collectively donated 140 kg of essential food items, contributing to a warmer Tet for students with intellectual disabilities and the homeless at Phuc Tue Education Center and GLC Center. Educating and supporting young students in saving food has become even more meaningful for VietHarvest, especially during festivals and family gatherings.
